Tip: the wake alarm and timers only run while this tab stays open.

Yes — rainrainsound builds the rain and schedules the thunder live, so the downpour keeps shifting and no two storms are ever the same. Load the Storm mood, push the rain and wind, and dim the scene to a moody night sky.

Dramatic and comforting at once

A good storm is exciting and reassuring in the same breath — big weather outside, you safe and dry inside. What ruins that in most apps is repetition: the same thunderclap on the same beat, the same gust, over and over, until it stops feeling like weather and starts feeling like a recording.

rainrainsound avoids that by scheduling each clap live. The rain keeps re-forming and the next thunder is never quite where you expect, so the storm stays alive.

Thunder with real physics

Every strike here has a distance. Close thunder cracks sharp with a low thump you can feel; far thunder is a long, muffled roll. And because light travels faster than sound, the lightning flashes first and the rumble arrives a beat later — up to a couple of seconds for the most distant strikes, exactly like standing at a real window.

Leave the living-weather drift on and storms will genuinely approach and pass: thunder starts distant, closes in as the front peaks, then recedes.

Build your storm

Open the Storm or Thunderhead mood and push the rain and wind up. Add a fire underneath for the feeling of sheltering from it, dim the scene to a dark sky, and watch the rain streak the glass while puddles gather and reflect the lightning below.

Questions about thunderstorm sounds

Does the thunder repeat?
No. Each thunderclap is scheduled live at a new time, distance and position, so the storm never repeats a pattern.
Why does the lightning flash before the thunder?
Because that is how real storms work — light outruns sound. The delay is longest for distant strikes.
Can I make it heavier or lighter?
Yes — adjust the rain, wind and thunder to anything from a distant drizzle to a storm right overhead.
Are there matching visuals?
Yes — a moody sky, lightning, rain on the glass and wet reflections. You can also dim everything or go pure black.
